Your first Pokémon TCG tournament
Playing in person starts with finding an event that suits you. You can browse Double Damage Events before creating an account, then read the organiser’s details before reserving your place.
Choose an event that suits you
Read the event description for its format, entry fee, age divisions and experience level. A regular League session can be a good place to meet local players; a League Challenge or League Cup is a tournament. Ask the organiser if you are unsure whether an event is suitable for your first visit.
Check both check-in and play start times, the venue address, and any registration deadline. A place on a waitlist is different from a confirmed registration, so check your status before travelling.
Pack for the advertised format
For a constructed event, bring a deck that meets the advertised format and the organiser’s current requirements. Bring sleeves, damage counters or dice, condition markers and a playmat if you use one. A prerelease uses cards supplied at the event, so check the listing before packing a constructed deck.
If a deck list is required, prepare it before the deadline. Double Damage lets you save a deck and attach it to registrations where deck submission is enabled. Check official card legality and tournament rules as well as the app’s format checks.
Arrive in time to check in
Allow time to find the venue, check in and ask questions. Bring your Play! Pokémon Player ID if the organiser requests it. Parents and guardians should check the event’s arrangements for younger players with the organiser.
Listen to the organiser’s announcements about rounds and reporting results. If a rules question comes up during a match, ask the judge or organiser for help.
