League Cup vs League Challenge

League Challenges and League Cups are local Play! Pokémon tournaments. Both can award Championship Points, but they are different levels of competition. The individual listing tells you how to prepare for that event.

League Challenge: an entry-level tournament

Pokémon describes League Challenges as entry-level tournaments that award a small amount of Championship Points. They give players a way to try organised competition at a local venue.

Entry-level does not mean that deck rules are optional. Check the advertised format, deck-list requirements and registration details before joining.

League Cup: a step up in competition

League Cups offer a higher level of competition and more Championship Points than League Challenges. Players can expect an event focused on tournament play.

Check the listing for the round schedule, whether there is a top cut, entry fee and prizes. Match length and best-of-one or best-of-three arrangements should come from the organiser’s details for that event.

Choose using the event’s actual details

Compare the venue, date, format and check-in time, then confirm that registration is open. If you are new to tournaments, contact the organiser with questions about preparation and age divisions.

Championship Point awards, eligibility and card legality can change by season. Use the official Play! Pokémon information for the current rules instead of relying on an old event listing.
